12 January 1925 – 12 September 2015

The TDA community is one with the Benita & Catalino Yap Foundation (BCYF) as we commemorate the death and more importantly celebrate the life of its Honorary Chair, Dr. Benita S. Yap, Ed.D., who joined the Lord on 12 September 2015. She was 90.

Dr. Yap, one half of the namesakes of the Foundation, alongside her husband, the late Mr. Catalino D. Yap, was known as an avid educator who helped develop the educational landscape in Pampanga. Together with her husband, they started what is now the St. Anthony College of Technology (SACT) system of schools in said province, including Dau Academy, now called the St. Mutien College, parent organization of BCYF. She was involved in education all throughout her life, and was also involved in socio-civic and parish activities for many years. She was also author of over a dozen books, including textbooks for five languages, including Japanese.

Dr. Yap believed in service above all, and her words of wisdom are what motivated the Founder, Chair, and President of BCYF, Mr. Antonio “Tony” Yap, to dedicate the greater part of his life to social development. She was truly a woman who recognized, embraced, and lived out her higher purpose, true higher purpose rooted in consciousness and service – love of God and love of others. Her ideals were the seeds sown that have continued to bear fruit today through her son’s and grandson’s many contributions to holistic development, and through this site, itself fertilized by the lifeblood and principles of the Benita & Catalino Yap Foundation.

We pray for her eternal repose. May she rest in peace.

Dr. Yap’s wake is at the Saint Louie Memorial Chapel, Terra Santa, Mabalacat City, Pampanga. Her funeral Mass will be held in the morning of Wednesday, 16 September 2015, at the Our Lady of Grace Parish Church in Mabalacat City, Pampanga.
