FINALLY.
At long last, after years of researching and developing, Human Nature is proud to present its Natural Toothpaste. We now have Goodness to Smile About.
When I got an email from Human Nature a few months back surveying users to try out a toothpaste they were developing, I got really excited, signed up for it, and wished that I had been contacted for this rather than the cherry lip balm a month back (the first time I was responded to). Yep, I didn’t get the toothpaste sample, but when I received my dealer’s newsletter earlier this week saying that the toothpaste was FINALLY coming out, I got so excited that I could almost taste the toothpaste in my mouth.
So it was with great exhilaration that earlier today, I stepped into Human Nature Marikina to join the dealer’s Magalogue Turnover (product launch) event. And when I finally finished the event and paid for my toothpaste as well as other orders, I was almost trembling with so much eagerness that I even voiced out my regrets at not having brought a toothbrush with me.
But whatever, the important thing is that I now have my own tube of Human Nature Natural Toothpaste, and you can bet I am going to use it tonight.
It took Human Nature three years to develop their Natural Toothpaste, so much of a challenge it was. For one thing, the toothpaste is not 100% natural – it’s only 99.76% natural. The 0.24% comes from non-natural fluoride, which is because fluoride is very difficult to source naturally, to the point that relying on it alone would not justify the huge demand for it. Fluoride, when used very moderately, is beneficial for us. It has been found to be the most effective and efficient way to keep our teeth strong and healthy; so good it is that it was actually lauded as one of the top ten public health achievements of the 20th century. That’s why HN’s Natural Toothpaste still uses it, though in sparing amounts.
It thus freshens our breath and whitens our teeth the natural way using a mixture called GreenMineral Plus, which contains zinc citrate, calcium carbonate, sesame oil, peppermint oil, and spearmint oil. Say goodbye to plaque, tartar, and cavities – now I’m SO excited to use it later!
Other compounds that are harmful for us and/or the environment are Naturally (pun intended) excluded. Triclosan, a chemical that makes antibacterial stuff antibacterial, but which can harm the liver and affect the thyroid gland, is not present. So is SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), which is absent from all other HN product as well. SLS is what makes things foam up – however, foam is not an indication of cleanliness, and is merely a psychological experience thanks to media exposure over the decades. This is why HN’s shampoos and soaps do not foam up as much, but are still just as effective.
It also doesn’t have plastic microbeads, a common feature in scrubs. These are so small that they bypass filters, and thus also flow into the ocean – getting eaten by fish, which are in turn eaten by us. With a toothpaste like the Natural Toothpaste, sea, fish, and human are all safe.
With this much attention paid to consciousness, how can you not want to go and smile and show off those pearly whites the natural way?
